What a weekend! 10 classes of Vintage race cars, grilled
bratwurst, sweet roasted corn and fresh Leinenkugel's beer, all nestled in the
rolling hills of central Wisconsin. Oh yes, cheese too!
Many thanks to a fine group of campers from Illinois, who
helped rescue my Easy-Up after it took a mid-day flight over the top of my
tent. Tom, Ron, Bruce, Freddy and Ron helped save the entire
weekend.
On the race course, we saw the same Porsche 917 that we watched
in our first race in 1973 win again in the Can-Am race. We also saw the
same McClaren that won the USGP in 1976 win again, with Bobby Rahal at the
wheel. It was a glorious weekend, but it was HOT!!!

While at the track, we had the opportunity to meet 3-time Formula One
champion, Sir Jack Brabham. He was kind enough to autograph this print of
his drive at the first U.S. Grand Prix at Sebring, FL. Jack was a Formula
One champion when it meant something, not like the puny version they run
today. Click on the photo below for the full version.

We're already planning to return to Road America for the 2003
vintage car event. Be sure to return for an update in late July, 2003!
