Road America 2003

WRL dispatched Fin Burton and Hal Turner to cover the action at the 2003 Road America Vintage Car event, known as the BRIC or Brian Redman International Challenge.

This year's feature race was the Canadian-American Challenge Cup Series, otherwise known as the Can-Am reunion.  John Surtees was the honorary Grand Marshal of the event, and you can see that he signed our tickets for us to take home and keep.

Most of the races were fabulous, with very close finishes and some last-lap drama.

The weather was spectacular, and the food lived up to its usual excellent reputation.  The corn never tasted better!  Many thanks to Frank Cosentino for the exceptional directions to Portillo's Hot Dogs in Chicago!  Kopps Custard in Glendale (north of Milwaukee) is still kicking out the excellent burgers and custard.

Here are some of the photos of the event.  Click on each thumbnail for an enlargement.

We're already planning next year's trip!
