We're back from another successful venture to Road America for
the Championship Auto Racing Teams Champcar race! What a great weekend!
After 2 1/2 hours of racing, the top three cars were separated by 1.5 seconds.
Christiano Da Matta continued his winning ways with his sixth win of the year,
closely followed by Bruno Junquera and Alex Tagliani.
A funny thing happened on the way to our campsite. As we
approached a four way stop with oncoming traffic, a motor scooter suddenly
swerved around the car in front of us and almost hit our car. "Hey,
where'd you learn how to drive!" screamed The Editor. "Yeah, who do you
think you are, Mario Andretti?" quipped the Wing General. Sure enough, it
WAS Mario Andretti.
It was another action-packed weekend, with the traditional
Kopps Custard (www.kopps.com) outside
Milwaukee on the way up, Popeyes Chicken on
the grill on Friday night,
Wingazette® Chili on
Saturday night, and the usual brats and corn on both days. This was
actually the tenth anniversary of the
Wingazette® Racing League. With
only two members present, we decided to hold off the celebration until the next
event, hoping for better attendance.
